Training

There are a number of ways to gain experience without needing to engage in combat.  Your journey as a character can still grow even working within a town!

Refining your Talents is one of three ways to gain experience points outside of combat.   Training consists of a one hour, two step process of expanding your research by reading or practicing (whichever is applicable) or being tutored in a skill, then putting that training to the test (Difficulty Rating) to determine how much you have, or haven’t, learned.  Some examples of Talent Training include Architectural Construction, Baking, Cooking, Farming, First Aid, Hunting, Programming Apps, Repairing Utilities, Tracking, and Researching Lore.

Each Talent Training Course has a Beginner, Intermediate, Hard, and Mastery Book.  The experience gain is only a one-time boon per each rank, but a refresher course grants some experience and can be utilized yearly.

Your success increases as your applicable Talents level up.

Everyone needs Gold and monsters aren’t good at dropping coin purses full of it.  Many planets have shops and restaurants that may be willing to hire you for the right price.  Rolling a 1D12 paired with the proper Talent modifier (ATC) determines how well your daily job performance goes and as such, this also influences your pay and experience points.

Full-time jobs, which require 5 days per week, completed after a month will grant a Plus Charge on your roll while a year with the same job will grant a Super Charge on your roll.  Part-time jobs are temporary jobs which might be obtained by a job posting or asking around in shops.  Pay can be negotiated at the hire date, but your success will play a role if you completed your end of the bargain at the end of a Part-time job, or you might be fired from your Full Time job if your employer deems you not worth the high price tag.

Since the Datagotchi Resume app updates automatically with job experience, these failures can hinder future employment if your hirer checks your Resume.  On the other hand, a healthy Resume with good references will give you some real pull when it comes time to negotiate your next job.  Some employers will also give bonus earnings to great work and tips can be obtained at some places.

One of the best ways to make money and establish a reputation for yourself is to undertake quests, and there’s no shortage of folks in need of help in Outerah!  Some quests are given by NPCs, some by important characters, while others can be found on a Quest Board; those listed on a Quest Board are open to any and all who feel that they are qualified to undertake the task, but these quests may also be completed by other parties while you yourself are out on the field, so be careful.

  • Quest varieties include, but are not limited to, from gathering ingredients, acting as a bodyguard, daring to pursue the bounty on a target’s head!  Every Quest has its own rewards ranging from Experience, Gold, Items, Gear, and more!  Some Quests are considered Chained Quests, making them only appear once another Quest has been fulfilled.  Be advised that while completing certain Quests will improve your reputation & standing with one faction, it might earn the ire of another…

Note: If you do a repeatable quest, the DR of the quest will drop by 1 stage each time it is completed, due to the nature of knowing how to complete the task.
