The Digital Key: Datagotchi
There is more to a great hero than triumphant battles and exploring worlds for loot. At the core of every champion is their very character, and here in Outerah, you have a perfect partner to chronicle not only your success in combat but one that acts as a personal caretaker. On the surface, The Digital Key appears as an everyday device. But this digital archive acts as both a passport and a carrier of your personal details. Even your “Character Sheet” is taken directly from the screen’s quick access menu! Also called a Datagotchi, this gadget can connect to other Digital Keys thanks to a shared network that is used collectively throughout Outerah. Datagotchis can store any app of your choosing, and all of them come with the six basic ones. If you are looking for your records, you will find them under your Passport, Resume, Biography, and Journal Apps. If you’re looking to interact with your allies, connect with guilds, or organize contracts, you can view them under your Catalog and Best Buddy App. You may be able to share apps with friends. While some classes can unlock certain apps, others can’t access the full features of the Datagotchi.
The passport app is the most important of your Datagotchi’s features. Your personal information, the places you go, and digital maps that you can store are all compiled into your Passport App. Your portrait, your date of birth, place of birth, height, weight, skin color, hair color, eye color, race, and nicknames are the details that make up the main page. It also displays your biological parents, if known, and keeps track of some of your personal info such as your current home, credit score, and current location. Your Golden Chips, a digital currency exchange, is also monitored by your handy dandy little device. A negative balance will impede your ability to travel freely or even visit shops that perform routine credit checks, so make sure not to go under. To make things worse, a 50% penalty fee is charged if you go into the negative.
The Resume App contains a comprehensive list of your greatest achievements as well as your skills and proficiencies. It stores the languages you are fluent in, any trades you’ve apprenticed under or mastered, other proficiencies with tools or other gadgets, and other accomplishments from your travels. It will share your work experience as well as other strong traits that make you who you are.
Your Biography App is self-explanatory. Here you’ll find a detailed description of you, using the details from the Passport App for maximum efficiency. It will outline the bonds you formed and highlight your ideals & philosophies while giving some insight into your flaws.
The Journal App is a word document program that a player can write their thoughts, chronicle the steps in their journey, or anything he/she wants to record. This feature is usable during your Break.
The Best Buddy App can be used as a communication system, allowing you to use satellites to transmit data wirelessly. While space storms or other jammers may disable this app temporarily, the app will transmit your message when the system is back online. For security purposes, you can only add members to your app by linking your device up with another with a retractable port. Those that are added to your Best Buddy App can gain access to your Resume App as well as others if you give permission. Best Buddy App is vulnerable to those with malicious intent who can potentially steal your data, so keep your wits about you.
The places you’ve visited and the people you’ve encountered can be chronicled into your Catalog App. A separate tab shows you a list of other groups you’ve come across, noting your reputation for each. Reputation starts at neutral for most groups. When helping members of a certain faction, whether it’s an individual or the entire group, a dice roll is initiated to overcome the faction’s challenge rating. Challenge rating is equal to the difficulty of the task at hand, and the dice roll determines how much “faction experience” you gain. On the other hand, stealing something from them and the faction becoming privy to this, or treating them with disrespect or hostility will penalize you with negative exp. Outright attacking a group will subtract -500 Exp without a roll unless it’s clearly an accident (such as mistiming your area of effect spell.) Roll 1D10 and subtract the result off the “faction experience” if this is the case.
Difficulty Rating Chart
Note: If you do a repeatable quest, the DR of the quest will drop by 1 stage each time it is completed, due to the nature of knowing how to complete the task.

There are special categories for people who regard you in a way that may be based on a Special Reputation. This bypasses the normal Positive and Negative Reputations and is known as “S Rank Reputation.” You may have multiple individuals at S Rank, and these routes can be considered when reaching B Rank or -B Rank respectively, and are temporarily marked as a Z rank. Your Reputation Exp will continue to increase positively or negatively at double the rolls, allowing you to only obtain S Rank when you reach 1000 or -800 Exp. Doing something that hinders the target Reputation will not only bring you back to neutral to said individual, but will forever eliminate the possibility to reach S Rank.
Special Reputation Route
Love – The individual and you share a special bond. Each of you is compelled to aid each other, even if it means life or death. Loved ones can be those that are within your immediate family, those that you consider your real family, your significant other, or companions whom you’ve forged unbreakable bonds with!
Wanted – You’ve developed a notorious reputation. Whether they are after you for a bounty, or you’re a target due to being a known threat, you will be the main target of an individual or faction. Be advised that if you work for one faction, your actions will certainly earn the ire from others…
Those who specialize in Technology can upgrade their device to become a jammer, allowing the AI to become a Haxagotchi. The device can be used to get between two digital devices and decrypts signals and code from other electronics. With this, you can obtain passcodes and all sorts of useful information. But beware of your enemies who have access to one of these devices…
