Arguably the single most infamous name in all of Outerah, Marcarvious is a being consumed by ambition and power, and equally driven by rage and impulse. Though he has since been blinded by these desires, Marcarvious’s resolve has not waned over the years. Despite being sealed in an alternate dimension, his influence hasn’t diminished at all. Like Proterius, Marcarvious was sealed away except in the latter’s case, he was banished to an empty realm, sentenced to exile in an endless, white void. And like his counterpart, there are denizens of Outerah who long for his return and believe that he will return, better than ever.
As his title suggests, Marcarvious is responsible for developing the Creation and Destruction Elements. He created the oldest race in Outerah—Humans—and that speaks for itself. His influence has always been strong and this suggests that there was a time when Marcarvious was not the fear-inspiring, ruthless tyrant that he is today. It’s unlikely that he was ever benevolent, but the fact that most of his creations have not withstood the test of time may be a reflection of his own descent into decay and madness.
While Repter and Proterius have elected to choose champions to represent them and their Elements, Marcarvious—ironically—has the most hands-on approach. Though his champion could rightfully be called The Vessel of Destruction, this chosen mortal is born with a great gift and an even more terrifying curse.
If one is born with The Destruction Core, his or her life is forfeit. Regardless of race, prestige, whether it’s a paragon of justice or a harbinger of evil, this being is destined to become a vessel for Lord Marcarvious to use in order to interact with the world. The anomaly is a rare occurrence, but it allows him to personally meet with and give orders to his followers. Lord Marcarvious’s aggressive and bloodthirsty personality might lead one to believe that he would use this chance to wreak havoc, but he has been wise and calculating with each vessel that has come and gone from the world. His two counterparts often regarded him as foolish and too abrasive, but Lord Marcarvious proves them wrong.
There is a Creation Vessel to act as a counterpart to the Destruction Vessel. Whereas the latter is destined to be a tool for Lord Marcarvious, the Creation Vessel is perhaps the greatest honor one can receive. Unlike the Destruction Vessel, the mortal chosen for the role of Creation Vessel is one whom Marcarvious has long-term plans for. The host of the Creation Vessel is powered by the raw powers of the element itself, extending their life for far longer than their race’s lifespan would allow. Creation Vessels can live indefinitely as long as they are not slain or killed by other means and, as such, it stands to reason that these beings are not only chosen by Marcarvious himself, but a Creation Vessel must show unyielding loyalty to him.
Out of the trio, Marcarvious doesn’t take on a smaller humanoid form unless he’s inhabiting one of his chosen vessels – the Cores. He is a colossal shadowy violet serpent with empty white eyes and a terrifying visage. Marcarvious tolerates no disloyalty and believes that The Core of Outerah is rightfully his; were it not for Repter’s champions, he would have won their exchange and all of the universe would be bowing at his feet. Between this and the constant condescending, demeaning attitude from Proterius (along with stealing some of his humans to create his own side evolution), it’s little wonder that Marcarvious has been driven insane. And that makes him even scarier than before.
While he was banished, Lord Marcarvious vowed not to take this defeat lying down. While it took eons to even break free of his original shackles, instead opting for revenge right away, the Lord of Creation & Destruction instead began to turn his prison into a recreation of Outerah – the way he would have molded it had he won in the war against his two counterparts. Dubbed Orgarges, this volatile realm is constantly growing and breaking down as waves of his elemental energy permeate throughout the entirety of his new realm. Marcarvious has also created new races and these subjects have gone on to evolve his original design into something magnificent. With new elements and even planetary traveling methods foreign to Outerah, this realm is still a dangerous, savage land. Due to the chaotic, unpredictable nature of Orgarges, it’s a world where the strong thrive and the weak struggle, if they survive at all. Orgarges has earned the alias “Chaos Realm” by scholars who have since discovered its existence.
Only one question remains – will Lord Marcarvious go after Repter to regain his birthright or is he satisfied with his new gains?
