rdShapeeshifter
Your surroundings are never what they seem.  Shapeshifters are among the world, hiding in plain sight.  As a shapeshifter you can turn into people and things you can see.  Born because of the adept humans achieving yet another scientific breakthrough, these shifters are far and few between.  However, most planets know of their existence and many have at least one residing within their world.  A sign of a shapeshifter is the glowing veins streaked down their arms and legs, looking more like a tattoo or magical inscription while this is, in fact, just a natural part of this aberration’s design. These veins are thicker and larger due to the chemicals coursing throughout their bodies.

Advances:

Shapeshifters began as an experiment to only clone objects.  However, new advancements aided already known mechanics for shapeshifters to allow them to turn into living creatures.  The more experience a shapeshifter has, the better they can use their ability.  The pinnacle of shapeshifter’s powers came into play when they were able to change the DNA splicing to replicate non-matter.  The army of shapeshifters has improved thanks to a few genius adept-humans.  After training their replicating abilities at a lab, shapeshifters can learn new tricks.

At Level 10 you can pick one of two subraces to enhance a Shapeshifter’s abilities.  Pick from Perfectionist, Waveshifter, Chemshifter, or Spiritshifter.

You have mastered the art of shifting to the point that you can mimic the creature’s stats and abilities rather than just have the looks to fool.  While other shifters are trying to map out their plan of shaping in their mind, your wit and memory serves you great as you whip out your form instantly!

You are a shifter that can create wavelengths through the air to generate frequencies.  With the power to morph your body so thin with much energy, you can convert this energy into multiple uses to affect the world around you.  Like a portal sage, you can traverse the dimensional drift by the waves you control, but unlike them you count only yourself and inanimate objects as your passengers.

Solid, liquid, and gas.  You are the physical manifestation of these and you have the ability to tweak your form to traverse the world differently upon your needs.  As a solid unit you function as normal, using gear, and transforming into what you need… the normal stuff!  Though some may need to liquidize your goods, and what better way to morph into a fluid form?  You can traverse through small crevasses, sink into the earth, or use your body as a whip.  Just make sure not to evaporate!  As a gas being, you can become a cloud, which makes you immune to many types of attacks and grants you access to some rather unique functions. (See Chapter 4 for more information on Montalations!)  You can convert back and forth between these states of matter dependent on your level per day.  At Level 10 you can change 10 times, while Level 35 will allow you to change 35 times using your Trigger Action.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be not only living but constantly in Spirit Mode?  It’s an out of body experience… literally!  As a spiritual shifter your vessel is a marionette doll composed of a malleable jelly-like substance which is infused with high concentrations of spirit energy.  While your body is moveable, your spirit is separate.  You can house your spirit within this vessel or be within 10 Cells away, controlling it from afar.  A spiritual tether links you and your vessel.

Shapeshifter Skills

As a shapeshifter, you can transform into a wide range of things in the world of Outerah, only limited to what you can picture in your mind.  By rolling an Intelligence Check, the shifter will copy something to the best of their memory.  Their Level affects what it can turn into and your stats do not change.

  • At first Level a shifter can turn into small sized inanimate objects.
  • At Level 4 you can turn into medium sized inanimate objects.
  • At Level 9 you can turn into large sized inanimate objects.
  • At Level 10 you can pick a shifter specialty.
  • At Level 13 you can turn into medium sized creatures.
  • At Level 17 you can shift into small sized creatures.
  • At Level 21 you can shift into large sized creatures.

You can take one mental image and store it within your mind to be able to shift into this creature or object at any time without fail.  At Level 15 you gain a second mental slot, a third at Level 22 and again at Level 29, capping at 4 slots.

  • Snippets: You can choose what parts you’d like to change “underneath the hood” choosing what stats of yours you would like to keep and what you’d rather keep of what you are changing into.  You can tweak these once per day, and an additional time with the use of an Affinity Charge.

When you copy a creature, you can dig into that creature’s memories once per day to find info you need from them.  At Level 20 you can use this skill two times per day, and at Level 30 you can use this ability five times per day.

You can shapeshift as a Trigger Action once per battle.  This can take place even right before an oncoming attack, allowing you to shift into something more durable if you are not normally.

You can create a portal 1 Cell away which takes you to your pocket dimension, a small gap between the fabrics of space between Outerah and Oculusai.  Your portal disappears when you enter it, as you disperse your being into it as raw energy.  You can convert inanimate objects into wave particles for the skill, but are unable to do so for living creatures.  Once you are ready to return to either the original plane, or the parallel one, the portal opens back up temporarily in the same space or up to 5 cells away in any direction.  If the space is taken up, you will return to the closest cell which is free.  You may move back and forth between Outerah and Oculusai to increase said distance indefinitely, but be cautious of the different effects within each world.  For example, it is ill advised to enter a zone of green tea in the Spirit World unless swimming in yang-ichor is your thing.

Once per battle you can flicker your body to avoid an attack at 50 percent success as a Trigger Action.  If the full evasion misses, you take only half the damage.

Once per day you can create a loud explosion which disorientates creatures in a 3×5 area in front of them by clapping your hand.  This sound blast is used either as a distraction or as a weapon, damaging those in range for 2D10 damage.  At Level 15, 22, 28, and 33 the damage increases by [2D10], capping out on 10D10.  With a slight change in frequency, this soundwave can heal those within the cell radius instead for the same amount!  Furthermore, you can channel this spell, at a non-damaging level, to jam technological devices within a 5x5x5 cell open area for 10 minutes.  An additional use per day requires an Affinity Charge.

Your body is quite solid and can set off metal detectors!  Your body becomes part metal, as if you are wearing Heavy Armor.  You reap the rewards of nullifying weapon effects without suffering the downsides of Heavy Armor!  You can tweak what type of metal your body is composed of to increase or decrease your weight.  Want to be light?  You may find Aluminum to your liking!  Average weight?  Titanium is nice.  Want to be a fatty?  Go ask your daddy for that iron!  Furthermore, your body takes no damage from Neutral based attacks.

You have become fluid as you melted away from your solid state or condensed from your gaseous state.  Your blood is the color of your Elemental Affinity, and can flow through the thinnest crevices, seep slowly into the ground, or be carried within a container.  You can use your arms as whips to attack up to 4 cells away!  The damage is factored based on your level to a similar tier whip of your choice.  While this mode grants you the best mobility to traverse the world around you, not having 100% of your liquid will decrease your maximum Hit Points by 20% for every 5% which has gone missing.  You need at least 75% of your mass in order to change states of matter again, so don’t go around partly evaporating now!  Otherwise, your countdown timer begins.  If you have lost some of your being, don’t worry!  Within an hour you’ll be good as new.

Looks like you have evaporated fully into a cloud, and a slow one at that (1 Movement per Round).  In this gaseous state, you assume the appearance of any gas montalation and you take up a a 1x1x1 cell radius minimum and a 3x3x3 cell radius at most.  By transforming into a cloud of oxygen, you can allow teammates to breathe in space.  Helium can affect the voices of units for 3 Rounds, making those inhaling it with a higher pitch voice.  This cuts the range of Chat Action by half, grants a Minus Charge on Persuasion and Coercion checks.  It even makes Pets unable to understand their masters who require Chat Action due to how different their owner sounds.  Changing into Hydrogen can be very risky.  The slightest spark will instantly turn you into a living bomb!  You deal fireball damage equal to that of your level, but you will also instant die, so get that spirit release countdown timer ready!

Your body and spirit can separate, allowing you to control your physical body as if you’re a puppeteer weaving strings with masterful precision.  This allows you to have a vessel to use and cast your skills at a safe distance.  By using 20% of your max hit points, you can repair your gelatinous body to make it good as new.  This body can move within 10 Cells of your spirit.  Just be cautious and make sure to hide yourself from danger.  Your spirit takes double damage from all attacks when you are not inside your vessel due to it being wide open!  If your opponent can’t see spirits though?  Have fun walling away at them free of charge!  You can also divide your Move in half should you choose to move your spirit and your physical body.

We don’t want to think what would happen when you die… though a spiritshifter falling upon their Spirit Release countdown is not much different than their norm.  All spiritshifters go into their version of “Spirit Mode” regardless of their Spirituality Core Stat upon entering Spirit Release.  Side effects compared to normal Spirit Mode includes their spirit becoming immobile and they have that pesky countdown over their head.  However, almost all skills are still usable, and even gain the CoreSpirit affinity, so fire away!  Unfortunately, you still cannot use healing or resurrection skills on yourself in this mode, as they would instantly fail.

Choose 1 skill from your past race before you have gone through experimentation and add it to your spiritshifter skills!
